It’s pretty easy to get in a rut of your favorite mixed drink. I have a wide variety of cocktails I like to make including margarita’s, bloody Mary’s, hot whiskey ciders, and cranberry vodkas.
And that’s the range that I have. I will experiment with plant-based food all day, but when it comes to trying out new drinks, I am not as creative.
However, this weekend, I had the most delicious summery drink that I immediately had to recreate.
It’s sour. Sweet. Robust. It’s all the flavors of summer, but with a hint of bourbon to remind me that winter is on it’s way.
And I can’t keep the recipe to myself.
I use barnivore.com to check if alcohol is vegan. While this site does not have every single brand, it is very helpful, and it has information about whether animal products are used in the brewing or fermenting process.
I used Evan Williams Bourbon, which was confirmed vegan on Barnivore. It also comes in a glass bottle, which can more easily be recycled than plastic. And it’s a solid money value for a 20-something wannabe cocktail maker.
