As we get into the cold months of winter, one of the things I like to have in my closet is a nice wool base layer. Whether I’m going skiing or just running errands, having that extra layer close to your skin helps keep you warm and dry from the chilly elements.
Merino wool is a natural fiber that has several properties:
Moisture wicking
Odor repellent
Body temperature regulation
Breathable
Along with all these, it is also comfortable against the skin, which makes it a great choice for outdoor enthusiasts both on and off the mountain.
It is also a natural, biodegradable fiber, which makes merino wool a great sustainable alternative to artificial fabrics like polyester.
In the latest NACFORADVENTURE YouTube video, I conduct a month long experiment to assess the properties of merino wool. For 30 days, I wore the Kari Traa Rose Light baselayer. Whether skiing, doing yoga, running errands or resting on the couch, I put the layers to the test.
Along the way, I also found myself spending less time picking out what to wear and doing less laundry. Through watching this video, I hope to encourage you invest in quality gear that will last, because limiting consumption can be one of the most sustainable things you have the power to do.
Thanks so much to Kari Traa for sponsoring this video.
